Speaker at the park: Phyllis Minch

Veterans Day Keynote Speaker is Phyllis Minch!

Phyllis was born and raised in SW Kansas (Protection KS). After graduating from High

School, she joined the US Navy in June of 1965. She completed Boot camp at US

Naval Training Center, Bainbridge Maryland.

After completing Boot Camp, she was given orders to stary for 9 more weeks to train

new recruits!

Her next duty station was NAS (Naval Air Station) North Island San Diego for Yeoman

school.

After completing Yeoman school, she went to NAS Whiting Field, Squadron 3 in Milton

FL. There she was the Commander’s aide for the rest of her enlistment. NAS Whiting

Field is home to the largest air wing in the U.S. Navy and produces 100% of all Navy,

Marine Corps and Coast Guard helicopter pilots. In the 60’s and 70’s it was a training

squadron for student pilots who were then sent to Viet Nam.

These days Phyllis is very involved in our community and is a facilitator for the

PAMVETs Veteran breakfast held every Saturday at the Golden Corral in Loveland. She

is a 35 year member of Gamma Chi, and volunteers at the NOCO VA, Foodbank,

Community Kitchen, Thompson Valley School District, and helping her fellow veterans.

Thank you Phyllis for your service!
